PROJECT OUTREACH
Expanding the network
2008 December 12
The Freedom Force strategy is to work within a wide variety of organizations that constitute the power centers of society to carry the message of freedom to their members. Through the leverage of influence and leadership within those organizations, it is possible for less than one percent of the population to influence the political and social policies of each nation – and the world. This is the method by which members of such relatively small groups as the Council on Foreign Relations have been able to dominate society in spite of their extremely small number. If we are to recapture control of our political system, we have no choice but to follow this same strategy.
Existing power centers such as political parties, labor unions, educational institutions, and media corporations are essential areas of activity but also can be difficult to influence because, typically, they are firmly in the hands of dedicated collectivists who will fight fiercely to retain control. In those cases, it will take the coordinated efforts of equally dedicated individualists working together within those structures, and it may take a long time to succeed. Patient gradualism is the key to success.
As important as old-line power centers are, we must not overlook strategic opportunities for leadership within newly created organizations. We must be prepared, not just to participate in them, but to create them where necessary. The object is to reach out to as many of our fellow citizens as possible, and excellent opportunities for that lie within new movements focused on current issues.
In this endeavor we must reject personal agendas. We must have no axe to grind except to promote freedom. We must offer leadership, not for personal benefit, but solely for influencing public opinion on behalf of the principles expressed in The Creed of Freedom.
If we want to make a difference in the world, we must start with our local community and the people around us. The banners below represent activities that can do that with great effect. When you click on them, you will find organizations and projects that offer excellent opportunities to reach out to our fellow citizens on issues that can be easily understood by everyone even if they do not understand the historical and collateral issues associated with them. Members of Freedom Force must understand those deeper issues, but most people are not interested. Our mission is to provide the leadership upon which they depend.
Freedom Force Meetups are non-partisan networks of activists and change agents, usually located within a specific geographical area, who work together on behalf of personal liberty. They come from all walks of life and include all religions, races, national origins, life styles, ages, and economic status. Their common bond is that they oppose collectivism in all its forms and work to achieve political influence within their community. Members communicate by Internet and email but also attend meetings where strategies are planned and projects are executed. Membership in Freedom Force International is recommended but not required.
One of the strong features of these groups is that many of the Meetup members are not yet members of Freedom Force. That is a bonus as far as we are concerned because it indicates we are reaching outward and tapping into a freedom groundswell from which future members will come, and it means we are fulfilling our basic mission, which is to provide influence and leadership far beyond the ranks of our own members. This is a great way to meet new freedom patriots and to participate in activities that will impact the political scene in our local community. It is also an ideal place to bring prospects who are in transition to a deeper understanding of the mission of Freedom Force.
For a directory of Freedom Force Meetup groups, click here or on the above banner. We have only recently started this project, so the initial number is small, but growth will be rapid.
If there is a Meetup in your area, affiliate with it and participate in its activities. If there is not yet one near you, it’s up to you to get together 5 or 6 people and start one. As mentioned previously, Freedom Force membership is not required to be a member of a Meetup, but only members are authorized to create a Freedom Force Meetup. If you are ready to form a new Meetup, click here.
WHY HAVE CHAPTERS IF THERE ARE MEETUP GROUPS?
The reason for forming a chapter is that, by so doing, a permanent structure is created that has a life force and continuity beyond the leader or just a few organizers. It is customary for loose-knit organizations, such as meet-up groups, to fade away after a time. There is nothing permanent about them, and they even can change their purpose in response to the changing views of new members. Chapters, by comparison, have an established set of bylaws, are bound to The Creed of Freedom and The Code of Conduct, they have a governing board of directors, officers, committees, and a close connection to the international headquarters. They are designed for the long-term and will preserve the original principles. Another advantage of chapters is that they allow members to make a firm commitment to our movement. Being part of a now-and-again meet-up is easy and non demanding, but that is not conducive for building a strong organization. Commitment and dedication are very important, and chapter affiliation allows that to happen.
The Coalition for Visible Ballots is a non-partisan, grass-roots movement of unprecedented unity on a single issue. That issue is very simple: Invisible ballots inside electronic voting machines are a bad idea. The Coalition includes organizations and individuals who, although not necessarily in agreement on other issues, are united on the proposition that the only way to insure honest elections is to reject ALL electronic machines, including touchscreen and optical-scan counters, and replace them with PAPER BALLOTS, HAND-COUNTED IN PUBLIC VIEW. Here's what you can do: First, become familiar with the magnitude of the problem so you will not be fooled by those who will say that everything is being taken care of by Congress. A library of articles and video documentaries on this topic can be accessed here. Being informed is not enough. Next, click on the above banner, join the coalition, and help create local Meetup groups to generate greater public awareness of the need for visible ballots.
